New Delhi: Tata Motors is going to launch the cheapest electric car soon. The new electric car will be the Tiago EV. The company has disclosed this. The Tiago EV was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2018, but the company did not launch it. Instead, Tata Motors launched the Nexon EV, Nexon EV Max, and Tigor EV. Now, the Tiago EV has been announced on World EV Day.

Till now no information has been revealed by the manufacturer about the Tiago EV. When launched, the Tiago EV will be the most affordable electric vehicle from Tata Motors. At present, the cheapest car from Tata Motors is the Tigor EV. Its price is 12.5 lakh rupees. It can be expected that the price of the next car will be less than this.

The company will launch 10 electric cars
Tata currently has a 3 phase approach toward building an EV portfolio. They want to launch 10 electric vehicles across multiple segments, body styles, and affordable price levels. He already owns the Tigor EV which is a compact sedan and the Nexon EV which is a compact SUV. The upcoming Tiago EV will be a hatchback.

Advance technology will be used
It is expected that Tata Motors will use the same Ziptron technology for the Tiago EV, which they are using for the Tigor EV and Nexon EV. The Ziptron technology is more advanced than the Xpres-T technology, which was earlier being used for the Tigor EVs which were in the commercial segment.

The design will be similar to the regular Tiago
Cosmetically, there won’t be any major difference between the Tiago EV and the regular Tiago. The Tiago EV should be offered in the signature Teal Blue and Daytona Grey. The entire exterior as well as the interior will get blue accents. Tata Motors said on World Electric Vehicle Day on Friday that the Tiago EV will be the company’s third product in the electric segment after the Nexon and Tigor.

Price may come this month only
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles said, “Today is a momentous occasion for us. We announce the expansion of our EV segment with the Tiago EV. The company plans to release the Tiago EV pricing and other specifications in the coming weeks. The instrument cluster can be taken from the Tigor EV. It looks similar to the normal instrument cluster but it has been updated to reflect the EV-related information.
