New Delhi: The Indian market has witnessed a surge in the demand for SUV vehicles in recent times. Many companies are launching their compact SUV models with improved features and engine performance. Customers are also making smart choices while buying SUVs. One of the most popular SUVs among the customers is Tata Nexon, which has been launched in a facelift version. This SUV topped the sales chart in November 2023, thanks to its powerful looks, features, and excellent safety features.
Tata Nexon has surpassed Hyundai Creta, which was the leader in the compact SUV segment for a long time. It has also left behind the Maruti Brezza, which has seen a decline in its sales after the launch of the Nexon facelift. Tata Nexon sold 14,916 units in November 2023, while the Hyundai Creta sold 11,814 units and the Maruti Brezza sold 13,393 units. Interestingly, Tata Nexon has maintained its lead despite a 6 percent year-on-year drop in sales. Tata Nexon had sold 15,871 units in November 2022.

The facelift version of Tata Nexon has received a lot of appreciation from customers. The SUV has been given a new design with a split LED headlight setup, a new LED tail light setup, new front and rear bumpers, and new alloy wheels. The interior of the SUV has also been updated with a new 2-spoke steering wheel, dashboard layout, and interior color. Tata Nexon has also been awarded a 5-star rating in the Global NCAP crash test, making it one of the safest SUVs in India. It has better passenger safety features than the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Brezza. Many people also compare Tata Nexon to Tata’s premium brand ‘Land Rover’ for its quality and performance.
Tata Nexon offers both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol engine is a 1.2-litre turbocharged unit that produces 120 bhp of power and 170 Nm of torque. The diesel engine is a 1.5-litre unit that delivers 115 bhp of power and 260 Nm of torque. The transmission options include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT, and a new 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The diesel engine comes with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT option.
Tata Nexon is loaded with features that enhance the comfort and convenience of the customers. It has a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch full digital driver display, auto AC, wireless phone charging, ventilated and height adjustable front seats, cruise control, and paddle shifters. It also has a 9-speaker JBL sound system with a subwoofer and Harman-enhanced AudioWorx.
Tata Nexon has also become more expensive after the design update. The SUV, which used to start at Rs 7.10 lakh (ex-showroom), now starts at Rs 8.10 lakh (ex-showroom). That means the price has increased by Rs 1 lakh. However, the company claims that the price hike is justified by the improved features and quality of the SUV.
