Taliban seeks help from Russia
A senior member of the Taliban’s political leadership has asked Russia to tell fighters in the ‘Panjshir Valley’ that the Taliban hopes for a political settlement to normalize the situation there. Russian Ambassador to Afghanistan Dmitry Zhirnov gave this information on Saturday.

Zhirnov said the Taliban have claimed that they do not want bloodshed in the area. The Panjshir Valley, north of the capital Kabul, is under the control of the ‘Northern Alliance’ and is the only area free from the Taliban. The ‘Northern Alliance’ fought a war against the Taliban in 2001 with US forces.
