Study revealed- 50% of patients who suffer heart attack are Diabetes

New Delhi: Diabetes is a slow poison. If not taken care of properly, then a person becomes afflicted with many other diseases. Therefore, continuous research is being done all over the country regarding diabetes. Under this episode, a study has found that 50 percent of those who suffer heart attacks already have diabetes. Surprisingly, patients do not know about it. This study has been published in the Global Health Journal. Usually, the such blockage is called ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) in the language of science.

According to the English newspaper Times of India, this study was done on 3523 patients from North India. Between January 2019 and February 2020, the study was done at GB Pant Hospital and Janakpuri Super Specialty Hospital in Delhi. Of these, only 855 i.e. 24 percent of the patients knew that they had diabetes. The rest were unaware of diabetes.

Not only this, many other surprising results have come out in this study. Most of the patients did not know that they had diabetes. Explain that diabetes increases the risk of a heart attack. Doctor Mohit Gupta told that the risk of heart attack decreases in people who were already aware of diabetes and those who were taking care of it.

Investigation is essential
According to Dr. Mohit Gupta, people above 18 years of age should get their diabetes checked from time to time. This reduces the risk of heart attack and other diseases. The doctor from GB Pant Hospital said, “It was found that patients with pre-diabetes (49%), newly diagnosed diabetes (53%), and established diabetes (48%) experienced higher rates of left ventricular dysfunction. Heart attack compared to non-diabetics (42%).
