Shrine Board decided to cancel Amarnath Yatra

Jammu: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has decided to cancel Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. According to the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, all the traditional religious rituals in the holy cave will be performed as before. Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board says that it will make arrangements for online darshan for devotees across the world.

This is the second year in a row that Baba Amarnath Yatra will not take place. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the Chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, held extensive discussions with the Board members on Monday and thereafter decided to cancel Shri Amarnath Yatra.

The Lieutenant Governor informed about the cancellation of the yatra by tweeting. He said that after extensive consultations with the board members, it has been decided that the yatra will be only symbolic though all traditional religious worship will be held in the holy cave. He said that it is very important to save the lives of the people, so we have taken the decision not to conduct the yatra in the public interest. The decision was given to start Shri Amarnath Yatra from 28th June and the yatra was for 56 days which was to end on 22nd August, the day of Rakshabandhan.

The business will be affected
Jammu Chamber of Commerce chief Arun Gupta has said that the government has canceled the Amarnath Yatra for the second year in a row. Today’s decision has disappointed the business community. This will have a direct impact on their business. The government should review its decision. Instead the number of devotees can be reduced.
