Bengaluru: Indian wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant scored a blistering half-century in the second innings of the second and last Test match of the two-match series against Sri Lanka (India vs Sri Lanka). Pant played this record-breaking innings at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. With this, Pant has become the fastest Indian to score the fastest fifty in Test cricket. During this, Pant also destroyed the 40-year-old record of veteran all-rounder Kapil Dev.

Pant completed his half-century in 28 balls in the second innings of the Day-Night Test. Before this, Kapil Dev had scored fifty in 30 balls against Pakistan in Karachi in 1982. Pant has become the Indian player to score 50 runs in the shortest balls in Test cricket.

Afridi had scored a half-century in 26 balls in India
Talking about the fastest half-century in India, this record is recorded in the name of former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi. Afridi made this record in 2005 in Bangalore by scoring a half-century off 26 balls. England’s legendary all-rounder Ian Botham set a record in India in 1981 by hitting a half-century off 28 balls.

Pant hit 7 fours and 2 sixes during his stormy innings. Talking about Indian players, after Pant and Kapil Dev, Shardul Thakur is at number three in this list. Shardul scored 50 runs in 31 balls against England in London in 2021. Virender Sehwag is in fourth place in this list. Sehwag also scored a half-century in 32 balls against England in Chennai in 2008.
