Jammu: The round of counting in the District Development Council () election in Jammu and Kashmir has also been almost completed. This election was very special for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Although the Gupar Alliance has succeeded in securing a majority, so far the saffron party has emerged as the largest party by winning 74 seats. If seen from the area, the BJP has not been able to show anything amazing in the Kashmir Valley.

The results of 276 seats have been revealed in the elections held in 280 seats. The big parties of the Gupakar coalition have won 67 seats to the National Conference, 27 to the People’s Democratic Party and Congress to 26 seats. PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti seems quite happy on this performance of the alliance. He wrote, “The elections completed in a peaceful and impartial manner are a victory for democracy, but the ground reality was far from normal against which the Gupakar coalition contested.”

At the same time, former Chief Minister of the state Omar Abdullah said, “The trends that have come out of the Jammu and Kashmir DDC elections are going to give a lot of enthusiasm to the group.” He wrote, ‘BJP had made it a point of prestige regarding article 370 and special status of Jammu and Kashmir. Now people have given the answer and it is for those people who rely on democracy to listen to these voices carefully.

BJP did well here
The results of the DDC election are considered good for the BJP. The party has done well in Jammu, but the party’s position in the Kashmir Valley is weak. In the valley too, BJP won three seats. The party has won three seats in Srinagar, Pulwama and Bandipora. These are a sign of big change for BJP. In Jammu too, BJP has got majority in 6 out of 10 districts. Significantly, this election program started from November 28 lasted for 8 stages.
