New Delhi: The Indian cricket team clinched the Asia Cup 2023 title after defeating Sri Lanka by 21 runs in the final on Sunday. However, India could not retain its top spot in the ICC ODI rankings, as Pakistan leapfrogged them to become the number-one ODI team in the world. Pakistan, who had a dismal performance in the Asia Cup and finished at the bottom of the Super-4 stage, gained 0.230 rating points and moved to the first position with 114.889 rating points. The series will be crucial for both teams to fine-tune their preparations and finalize their combinations for the mega event. India and Australia will also face each other in Chennai on October 8 in their first match of the World Cup.
