Oxford University’s human vaccine test may begin on Wednesday

Pune: Potential Corona Virus Vaccine supplements developed by researchers at Oxford University arrived at the Bharti Vidyapeeth Medical College here on Tuesday for a second phase test on humans. This information was given by an official. A top official of the institute said the test could begin on Wednesday. The institute is one of 17 institutes selected for testing on humans in India by the Serum Institute of India.

(Dr. Sanjay Lalwani, Medical Director of the Medical College and Hospital and Research Center of Bharti Vidyapeeth said, “To begin with, we have identified five volunteers, who will be screened Covid-19 and antibodies and whose reports will be negative on Wednesday. Will be selected for vaccination. ” He told PTI-language that the hospital has been given a target of enlisting 300 to 350 volunteers. Those selected to receive a single dose of the vaccine will be aged 18 to 99 years.

Dr. Jitendra Oswal, deputy medical director of the hospital, said that after vaccination, they would monitor the volunteers as per standard testing protocol. Other hospitals to be tested include BJ Medical College Hospital, AIIMS Delhi, Pune, Rajendra Memorial Research Institute of Medical Sciences in Patna, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, Nehru Hospital in Gorakhpur and Andhra Medical in Visakhapatnam. Colleges are included. SII, the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer, has signed an agreement with the British-Swedish pharma company AstraZeneca to produce potential vaccines developed by the Jenner Institute of Oxford University.
