OnePlus 12 to launch on December 4

New Delhi: OnePlus, the Chinese smartphone maker, is gearing up to launch its latest flagship device, the OnePlus 12, on December 4. The launch date coincides with the 10th anniversary of the company, which was founded in 2013. The OnePlus 12 is expected to be a premium device with top-notch specifications and features, some of which have been leaked online ahead of the official announcement.

According to the leaks, the OnePlus 12 will sport a 6.82-inch X1 Oriental LTPO OLED panel, which is a new display technology that offers better power efficiency and adaptive refresh rate. The screen will have a resolution of 1440×3168 pixels, a peak brightness of 2600 nits, and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The display will also support HDR10+ and Dolby Vision for enhanced visual quality.

The OnePlus 12 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which is the latest and most powerful processor from the US chipmaker. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is based on a 4nm process and features a Kryo 780 CPU, an Adreno 730 GPU, and a Hexagon 770 DSP. The chipset also supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and USB 4.0. The performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is said to be comparable to the Apple A17 Pro SoC, which powers the iPhone 13 series.

The OnePlus 12 will likely come with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 internal storage, which are the highest memory configurations available in the market. The device will run on Android 14, which is the upcoming version of the Google operating system. However, this has not been confirmed by the company yet.

In terms of camera, the OnePlus 12 will feature a triple rear camera setup, consisting of a LYT-T808 primary lens, a 48-megapixel Sony IMX581 ultra-wide unit, and a 64-megapixel Omnivision OV64B telephoto lens. The LYT-T808 is a new sensor that offers high resolution, low noise, and fast autofocus. The ultra-wide lens will have a 120-degree field of view, while the telephoto lens will provide 3x optical zoom. On the front, the device will have a 32-megapixel selfie camera, which will be housed in a punch-hole cutout on the top left corner of the screen.

The OnePlus 12 will pack a 5400mAh battery, which is a significant upgrade from the 5000mAh battery of the OnePlus 11. The device will also support 100W wired and 50W wireless fast charging, which will enable the device to charge from 0 to 100 percent in less than an hour. The device will also have a stereo speaker system, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and a face unlock feature.

The OnePlus 12 is expected to be priced at around $999 for the base variant and will be available in multiple color options. The device will compete with other flagship devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S23, the Huawei Mate 50 Pro, and the Google Pixel 7. The device will be unveiled at a virtual event on December 4, which will be live-streamed on the company’s website and social media platforms.
