New Delhi: When you make a reservation online or offline to travel by train, you will not get the option of AC economy class. Railway Ministry has decided to surrender the coach of this class. These coaches will also now be normal third AC coaches. Know the reason behind the decision to surrender AC economy class.
The Ministry of Railways started this class last year between Sleeper and AC Third Class. Whose fare was more than sleeper but less than third AC? Its purpose was to make the passengers traveling in sleeper travel in AC. For this, the number of births in the coach was increased. The normal third AC class coach has 72 berths, while it had 83 berths.

Along with this, individual lights for reading, AC vents, USB points, mobile charging points on every berth, better ladders to climb to upper berths, and special snack tables were made in these coaches.
Not getting Lennon was causing trouble
According to the Ministry of Railways, to increase the number of berths, the Lennon (blanket) storage was removed with a slight gap between the seats. For this reason, Lennon was not given in AC Economy. According to the officials, the passengers traveling in this class were continuously demanding blankets, the passengers argued that normally AC class passengers do not travel with blankets. Keeping in mind the demand of the passengers, in the past, Railways has started giving Lennon to the passengers in this category also.
Therefore decided
According to the Ministry of Railways, on average, the cost of one lane is Rs 60 to 70 per trip. This includes everything from washing to removing after a set amount of time. Railways were facing extra burden by giving Lennon to the passengers traveling in these coaches. Because of this, the railway has decided to surrender the AC economy. At present, there are 463 AC economy classes and 11277 third AC coaches. But now the number of coaches in both classes has increased to 11740.
