Citing government sources, CNBC TV18 reported that there are no plans to stop Chinese smartphones priced below Rs 12,000 from being sold in the Indian market. Earlier, Bloomberg was quoted as saying that the government is preparing to ban the sale of cheap Chinese smartphones in the domestic market to promote Indian companies. Now the government official said that there is no plan to take any foreign brand out of the market.

The government says that without excluding any foreign companies, steps will be taken to make room for Indian companies and suppliers. The vision of the government is to create innovative electronic products with an Indian brand. We will stop attempts to harm Indian companies through unfair trade practices.
