Mumbai: Maharashtra Government’s phased relaxation of lockdown 5.0, ‘Mission Begin Again’ started in the state from today, thus bringing back life to normalcy after over two months. The government issued revised guidelines regarding the services to be permitted to operate across the state after careful marking of containment and non-containment zones, view of the COVID-19 epidemic. The order also said these guidelines be implemented after due consideration and planning of availability of health infrastructure. However, the containment zones will continue to remain under lockdown until further orders.

In a big relief to the people, shops and market places on one side of the road/lane/passage opened today for the full working hours while those on the other side will open tomorrow as per odd-even dates. The shop owners are insisting on social distancing and wearing masks for customers and are using gloves and sanitizers as precaution.

The municipal commissioners along with the police commissioners have been told to involve market and shop-owners’ association for implementation of social distancing and traffic movement. Taxis and rickshaws have been permitted to ply for emergency services only. As per the revised orders, inter-district movement in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), which includes Mumbai city, Mumbai suburban, Thane, Palghar and part of Raigad districts, started from today.

However, other inter-district and inter-state travel will be regulated. Offices and staff of educational institutions can operate for non-teaching purposes, including for developing e-content, evaluation of answer sheets, and declaration of results. No gardens, parks, gyms, play areas are it closed or open-air will be allowed to open.
