Mumbai: The new year of 2024 is going to kick off with a spine-chilling thriller at the box office, as Bollywood diva Katrina Kaif and South sensation Vijay Sethupathi will share the screen for the first time in the film ‘Merry Christmas’. The film, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sriram Raghavan, is a suspenseful story of two strangers who meet on the eve of Christmas and get entangled in a web of mystery and horror.
The film’s trailer, which was released on Wednesday, has already created a buzz among fans and critics, as it showcases the stunning chemistry and acting skills of the lead pair, who are known for their diverse and versatile roles. The trailer also reveals glimpses of the plot, which involves a series of twists and turns that will keep the viewers on the edge of their seats.
The film is a bilingual project, shot simultaneously in Tamil and Hindi, and will be dubbed in other languages as well. It marks the Tamil debut of Raghavan, Kaif, and music director Pritam, who have collaborated for the first time to create a unique and gripping cinematic experience. It also marks Sethupathi’s third Hindi film, after Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota and Laal Singh Chaddha.
The film was initially scheduled to release in December 2023 but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns. After facing several delays, the makers have finally announced that the film will hit the theatres on January 12, 2024, coinciding with the festival of Pongal.
