New Delhi: Jallikattu has been selected from 27 films. Some of the other films in the Indian race for Oscar 2021 were Disciple, Shakuntala Devi, Shikara, Gunjan Saxena, Chapak, AK Versus AK, Gulabo Sitabo, Bhonsle, Chhalang, Ib Alai Oo !, Check Post, Includes Attan Chakan, Sirius Main, Bulbul, Kamayab, The Sky Pink, Chintu’s Birthday and Bitterweight.
This is the story of the film
Jallikattu’s story is based on Warke and Antony, who run a slaughterhouse. Buffaloes are slaughtered and sold in their slaughterhouse. One day a buffalo escapes from the slaughterhouse and terrorizes the whole village. The police are called to control him. The whole village catches him. But no one can control the buffalo. The film tries to control the buffalo in different ways and also shows how the buffalo protects itself from the crowd.
Jallikattu has won many awards
The Jallikattu film had its world premiere at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival, after which it was screened at the 24th Busan International Film Festival. Jallikattu director Lijo Jose Pelisari also won the Best Director award at the 50th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Jallikattu also won two awards at the 50th Kerala State Film Awards earlier this year, Best Director and Best Sound Mix.
These films have received Oscar entries
Last year, Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy was India’s official entry at the Oscars, but the film was not shortlisted for nomination. The last Indian film to be nominated in the category was Lagaan 2002. Lagaan was known as the best foreign language film.
Village Rockstars and Newton were much talked about
In the last few years, other films like Village Rockstars, Newton, Court, Visarnai, Barfi, Indian, People Live have been submitted for nomination.
The Academy Awards will be announced in April 2021 instead of February
The 2021 Academy Awards will be held on April 25, instead of the second Sunday in February.
