Major reshuffle in Congress: 23 leaders sidelined, Ghulam Nabi Azad Anand Sharma and Kapil Sibal lost stature

New Delhi: The Indian National Congress Party has made a big change in the Congress Working Committee (CWC) and its Central Election Authority. Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi made a big change in the organization, with Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ambika Soni, Motilal Vora, and Mallikarjun Kharge as General Secretary is removed. In the major reshuffle of the Congress, 23 leaders have been sidelined. Azad has also not been included in the advisory committee set up for Sonia Gandhi. Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma will only be members of the Working Committee. Jitin Prasad was made in charge of Bengal. Kapil Sibal’s height has also decreased in this reshuffle.

Sonia Gandhi set up a special committee to help in party affairs which would include AK Antony, Ahmed Patel and Ambika Soni, KC Venugopal, Mukul Wasnik and Randeep Surjewala. At the same time, Asha Kumari has been discharged from Punjab. Harish Rawat will now take over the post of general secretary in-charge of Punjab Congress. Randeep Singh Surjewala’s height has increased in the party. Surjewala has also been given the responsibility of in-charge of Karnataka. Rahul Gandhi’s stature is still up in the Congress Working Committee. He is ranked third after Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh. Rahul Gandhi’s favorite Madhusudan Mistry has grown in stature. At the same time, Arvinder Singh Lovely’s height has also increased. Sonia Gandhi has made P Chidambaram, Jitendra Singh, Tariq Anwar and Randeep Surjewala a regular member of the CWC.

KC Venugopal has been given the responsibility of the organization. Priyanka Gandhi has been made in charge of UP. Among the Congress general secretaries, Mukul Wasnik has been given the responsibility of Madhya Pradesh, Oman Chandy has been given the responsibility of Andhra Pradesh, Tariq Anwar has been given the responsibility of Kerala and Lakshadweep, Jitendra Singh has been given the responsibility of Assam and Ajay Maken has been given the responsibility of Rajasthan.

Digvijay Singh, Rajiv Shukla, Manikam Tagore, Pramod Tiwari, Jairam Ramesh, HK Patil, Salman Khurshid, Pawan Bansal, Dinesh Kunduro, Manish Chatrath and Kuljit Nagra have been included as the new CWC members. Now Pawan Kumar Bansal, Secretary in-charge of Congress will be the administration. Mankim Tagore has been appointed as in-charge secretary of Telangana.
