New Delhi: Coronavirus usually attacks the lungs of patients. During the second wave of the corona, we saw that the lungs of many patients were damaged up to 90 percent due to the virus attack. In such a situation, the doctors were afraid that there could be a disease called Lung Fibrosis in these lungs. Usually in such diseases, the lung tissue gets damaged and the lungs stop working. But in a study, it has been found that those corona patients whose lungs were damaged are recovering in 3 months.

Talking to the English newspaper Times of India, Dr. Sumit Singhania, a pulmonologist at Kokilaben Ambani Hospital, said that the study has shown that the lungs of most patients are getting better. The preliminary results of this study have been published in the ‘Lung India Journal’.

Dr. Sumit Singhania told that this study was done on those patients of Corona whose lungs had become very bad. He said, ‘After three months, the size and function of the lungs in most of the patients had improved significantly. Lung function tests and CT scans were done for all the patients.

Keeping an eye on such patients
This study was done on 42 patients of corona who were given antiviral Remdesivir injections and steroids. These patients were admitted to the hospital. Along with this, he also had a dangerous level of pneumonia. So far 300 people have been tracked under this study. Some people were followed even after a year of being corona. On the other hand, another doctor associated with Hinduja Hospital told that after recovering from corona, patients were also asked to take medicine for lung fibrosis.
