KL Rahul will lead Indian team against Zimbabwe: BCCI

New Delhi: Indian batsman KL Rahul has been cleared to play in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. He will lead the Indian team on the Zimbabwe tour. At the same time, Shikhar Dhawan has been made the vice-captain.

Issuing a BCCI statement, the BCCI medical team has assessed KL Rahul and approved him for the upcoming three-match ODI series in Zimbabwe. The All India Senior Selection Committee has appointed him as the captain of the team and Shikhar Dhawan has been named as its vice-captain.

Significantly, KL Rahul has been out of cricket since his inclusion in the Eliminator of IPL 2022 in Kolkata on 25 May. Rahul was then named as the captain for the five-match T20I series at home against South Africa in June. But he was ruled out of the series due to a right groin injury on the eve of the first match in New Delhi. At the same time, he has undergone a sports hernia surgery in Germany, due to which he could not say on the team even on the tour of England.

Let us tell you that, KL Rahul was set to make a comeback during India’s T20I series against West Indies. But before that tour he was found infected with the coronavirus, due to which he was not included in the West Indies series.
