IndiGo passenger dies on flight from Jeddah to Hyderabad, plane makes emergency landing in Karachi


New Delhi: A passenger on an IndiGo flight from Jeddah to Hyderabad passed away on Thursday night, despite the efforts of the crew and a doctor on board. The flight had to make an emergency landing in Karachi, Pakistan, to seek medical assistance for the passenger, who was suffering from a cardiac arrest.

The incident occurred on IndiGo flight 6E 68, which was scheduled to depart from Jeddah at 10:25 pm local time and arrive in Hyderabad at 6:10 am IST. According to the airline, the passenger complained of chest pain and breathing difficulty shortly after takeoff. The crew administered oxygen and first aid to the passenger and contacted a doctor on the ground for further guidance.

However, the passenger’s condition deteriorated and he became unresponsive. The captain decided to divert the flight to Karachi, the nearest airport, to seek urgent medical help. The flight landed in Karachi at 12:50 am local time, where a doctor boarded the plane and examined the passenger. Unfortunately, the passenger did not survive and was declared dead on arrival.


The flight departed from Karachi after completing the necessary formalities and landed in Hyderabad at 9:08 am IST, with a delay of almost three hours. The airline expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased passenger and thanked the crew and the doctor for their efforts. The airline also thanked the authorities in Karachi for their cooperation and assistance.
