New Delhi: German luxury car company Mercedes-Benz recently appointed Santosh Iyer as the next Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company in India. He will take up his new post from 1 January 2023. Iyer, 46, is currently the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at the company. He will replace Martin Schwenk in the new post. Schwenk will now take over as the President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Thailand.

The special thing is that Santosh Iyer will be the first Indian to lead Mercedes-Benz India. Not only this, but he is also the youngest person to reach this post. With Iyer taking over, the three German luxury carmakers will take the Indian leadership in BMW, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz. Vikram Pawah is the CEO and President of BMW India, while Balbir Singh Dhillon is the head of Audi India.

How did Santosh Iyer reach this position?
Santosh Iyer will take over as the CEO of Mercedes-Benz India from January 1.
Iyer has been associated with Mercedes Benz India since 2009. During this time he has handled many important responsibilities including Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, and Communication. Iyer was appointed as the Vice President of Customer Service and Retail Training Business in 2016. However, he started his automobile career in 2004 with Toyota Kirloskar Motor. Then he joined Ford Motor India in 2008. Talking about Iyer’s education, he has done graduation in commerce and a PG in business management from Indianapolis University.

Vikram Pawah, President of BMW India
Vikram Pawah, 45, was appointed as the chairman of BMW Group India in 2017. Pawah has been working in both the automotive and non-automotive industries for over 25 years. During this time he has held important responsibilities for companies in many countries. He started his career at J Engineering Works India. He then held several important positions within Honda Cars in India and Australia. Prior to BMW, he was the Managing Director of Harley Davidson India. Pawah has a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) from Delhi University and an MBA in International and Strategic Management from Victoria University in Melbourne.

Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India
Balbir Singh Dhillon was made the head of Audi India in the year 2019. Dhillon was earlier the head of dealer development for Audi. He joined Audi India in 218. Dhillon has over 23 years of experience in the automobile industry. He has worked with Volkswagen India for almost 12 years. Balbir was the head of sales and network for a company like Porsche India. Balbir Singh Dhillon joined Porsche SE in 2007. In 1995, Balbir Singh Dhillon obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical from Punjab Engineering College.
