BRICS is the organization of five fast emerging national economies – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. These five countries account for 42 per cent of the world’s population and account for 23 per cent of the world’s GDP. The theme of the meeting of leaders of BRICS countries at this year’s summit is “BRICS participation for global stability, shared security and innovative development”.

The main objective of the presidency of the Russian BRICS in 2020 is for multilateral cooperation between BRICS countries and to contribute to raising the standard of living of our people. Russia has said that in today’s world, challenges and threats to global, regional and national security are the subject of the meeting.

For the last five months, there has been tension on the LAC, which has been held at the diplomatic and military level to reduce it. Even after these meetings there was no result. However, India and China have agreed to keep the lines of communication open to continue dialogue with each other on the ground and to avoid the escalation of the situation. Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force has also increased its vigilance to counter every move of China.
