Poonch/Jammu: Security forces have launched a massive search operation in the dense forests of the Bata-Doria area after a terrorist attack on an army vehicle in Poonch, Jammu, and Kashmir. In this terrorist attack, 5 soldiers of the Indian Army were killed and one was injured. Officials told that the entire area has been cordoned off. Drones and sniffer dogs are being used to locate terrorists.

Officials said a high alert has been sounded in the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch amid tight vigil along the Line of Control. He said that following the incident, traffic on Bhimber Gali-Poonch road has been stopped and people have been advised to go to Poonch via Mendhar. According to officials, the Army has informed that an NIA team will visit the site of the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch on Thursday.

The five soldiers killed in the terrorist attack were from the Rashtriya Rifles.
All 5 soldiers who lost their lives in this terrorist attack were from a unit of Rashtriya Rifles deployed for counter-terrorism operations. The army said the vehicle in which the soldiers were traveling came under fire from unidentified terrorists and caught fire due to the possible use of a grenade.

In a tweet, the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) said, “Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pandey and all ranks of the Indian Army pay tribute to 5 Bravehearts of the Indian Army, Havildar Mandeep Singh, L/NK Debashish Baswal, L/NK Kulwant Singh, Constable Harkishan.” Singh and Sepoy Sevak Singh, who laid down their lives yesterday in the line of duty in the Poonch sector.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that he is saddened by the martyrdom of the brave soldiers. He said in a tweet, ‘His rich service to the nation will never be forgotten. My condolences are with the bereaved families. All political parties have condemned this terrorist attack on the Indian Army vehicle in one voice.
