In such a situation, the central government has issued an alert regarding 14 states. These are the states where a large number of new cases are coming every week. Apart from this, the positivity rate here is also above average. According to the Center, the tests of corona are also decreasing in these states. These days a maximum number of cases are coming from Delhi, Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, and Telangana.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan held a virtual meeting with these states on Tuesday. The states where corona cases are increasing significantly since June 1. They are – Assam, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, and West Bengal.

The central government has asked the states and union territories to ensure that people attending public events and going on pilgrimage do not have symptoms similar to the Covid-19 infection. Along with this, it has also been asked to see that everyone has been vaccinated. A letter has been written to the states and union territories regarding this. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that in view of various festivals and travels, there may be an increase in congestion in different parts of the country in the coming months. Such events can promote the spread of other infectious diseases including Covid-19.

Bhushan has also said in the letter that the health workers, frontline staff, and volunteers deputed by the organizers of such events and the state and district administrations should not have symptoms related to Covid-19 and they should probably get both doses of the vaccine. The letter clarified that the elderly and those with serious ailments (diabetes, high blood pressure, chronic lung/liver/kidney disease, etc.) planning to attend such events need to take extra precautions.
