New Delhi: If you are planning to buy a diesel car and that too the most popular sedan of Honda, then you may be in for a big shock. Honda has also discontinued the diesel variant of its best-selling sedan Amaze. The company has also removed the Amaze diesel variant from its website. The diesel variant of the Honda Amaze was sold by the company in three trims. It was the only car in its segment to come with an automatic transmission with a diesel engine.

With the sale of this car stopped, Hyundai, Tata, and Maruti have breathed a sigh of relief. Because Amaze used to give tough competition to Aura, Tigor, and Dzire. At the same time, apart from being excellent in mileage, due to the abundance of features, people also preferred to take the diesel variant of the Honda Amaze.

What is the reason
The biggest reason behind the discontinuation of the Honda Amaze diesel variant is the implementation of BS6 Stage 2. With the implementation of BS6 Stage 2, the cost of the car will increase significantly due to which the company has decided to discontinue it. At the same time, after the decline in the purchase of diesel vehicles after the implementation of the scrappage policy, almost all companies are turning their attention to hybrid and electric cars.

Amaze will be available in this variant
After the discontinuation of the diesel variant, the petrol variant of Amaze will now be available for sale. Now Amaze will be available in the market with a 1.2-liter IVTEC engine. Three trims of this car will also be available, in which 5-speed manual and CVT automatic transmissions will be available.

The number of closures of these cars will also come
Along with this, there is talk of discontinuing two more diesel cars of Honda. These include the diesel variant of the WR-V and the 5th generation Honda City. The diesel production of these cars will not be done by the company after January and their sale will also stop after March 31. With this, Honda’s diesel lineup will almost end. Although the Honda City Hybrid model is being liked a lot and the company’s full attention is on the production of this car.
