New Delhi: The Shatrujeet Brigade of the Indian Army is conducting aerial exercises on the northern borders in eastern Ladakh to review its rapid response capabilities. Sources gave this information on Monday. The standoff between the Indian and Chinese armies has been going on since May 2020 when violent clashes took place in the Pangong Lake area in eastern Ladakh.

Sources said that on Monday, air troops of the Shatrujit Brigade were shifted to an altitude of more than 14,000 feet as part of the exercise. Along with special vehicles and equipment, these specially trained soldiers were accelerated from five different bases by C-130 and AN-32 aircraft.

Soldiers reached the temperature down to minus 20 degrees Celsius and inaccessible areas
Sources said they told that it was particularly challenging to transport troops in difficult terrain with temperatures down to minus 20 degrees Celsius and high altitudes.

About 50,000 to 60,000 soldiers are deployed from both countries.
After a series of military and diplomatic talks, India and China completed the withdrawal of troops in the Gogra region in August and from the northern and southern banks of Pangong Lake in February. About 50,000 to 60,000 soldiers of both countries are currently deployed along the Line of Actual Control in the sensitive area.

This exercise is considered important in view of the 13th round of inconclusive talks to end the deadlock between India and China recently. Military talks were also held between the two countries, but during this time China neither listened to the Indian delegation nor told itself anyway. In a statement in this regard, the Indian Army had given important information on the 13th Military Dialogue. The army had said that both the countries did not reach any conclusion on the resolution of the remaining issues in the meeting. However, the army has expressed the hope that China will move forward on resolving the issues.
