Government’s big action against spurious drug makers, licenses of 18 pharma companies canceled

New Delhi: Indian drug regulatory body Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has canceled the licenses of 18 pharma companies for manufacturing spurious drugs after reviewing 76 companies from 20 states. News agency ANI gave information about this on Thursday quoting official sources. According to the report of ANI, till now the action taken by the government in the matter of making fake medicines includes 70 pharma companies in Himachal Pradesh, 45 in Uttarakhand, and 23 in Madhya Pradesh.

According to the list accessed by ANI, most of the companies against which action has been taken are registered in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. The license of Himalaya Meditech Pvt Ltd registered in Dehradun, was suspended with immediate effect on December 30, 2022, and the permission to manufacture 12 products of this company was also canceled on February 7 this year. Shree Sai Balaji Pharmatech Pvt Ltd, located at Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, was issued a show cause and stoppage notice.

Show cause notice was also issued to Easy Pharmaceuticals, Village Mandhala, Tehsil Kasauli, District Solan (Himachal Pradesh). Then after verification of the complaints, the production ban order was canceled. Only a show cause notice was issued to Athens Life Sciences, Mouza Rampur Jattan, Nahan Road Kala Amb, District Sirmaur 173030 (Himachal). Laborat Pharmaceuticals India Limited, (Unit-II), Rajban Road, Nariwala, Paonta Sahib (Himachal) was warned and a show cause notice was issued.
