New Delhi: Power Minister RK Singh said that the government is considering encouraging the use of electricity on a wider scale in cooking to help the poor. According to the statement of the Ministry of Power, the Minister said that the poor sections of the society will be provided with electricity as a cheap option to meet their daily needs. This will not only lead the country towards self-sufficiency but will also help in reducing dependence on imports (petroleum). The minister said these things while inaugurating the service building, shopping complex, and main plant canteen at NTPC’s Nabinagar, Barh, and Barauni respectively. These centers are built for the convenience of the people of Bihar and NTPC employees.
Singh said, electricity is the future of India and in the coming time, most of the basic facilities of the country will depend on electric energy. He said that the government has proposed the formation of a power foundation at the ministry level. Its goals include using only electricity in cooking. This will not only make our economy self-sufficient but will also help in reducing dependence on imports. Singh said that our government is working for the welfare of the poor and this step will provide cheap options for cooking to the poor section of the society.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has continued to work on schemes like PM Awas Yojana and Har Ghar Bijli, keeping the poor in mind even during lockdown. The Minister appreciated the various efforts of NTPC, which shows the commitment of this power generating company towards the economic development of the country.
He said, there have always been questions on the functioning of public sector undertakings, but if we look at the performance of NTPC and other public sector undertakings, then it is clear that its efforts have been better than other private companies and continue to make profit with progress. . I am grateful to NTPC, which has played a notable partner in the progress of Bihar and other states for nation building.
On this occasion NTPC Chairman and Managing Director Gurdeep Singh said, NTPC is taking all possible steps to encourage the use of electricity in cooking. We are confident that we will be able to emulate this model across the country. He said that the 3,800 MW capacity project of ANPC in Bihar is under construction and the company will continue to contribute to the progress of the state. The total installed capacity of NTPC group is 62,900 MW. It has 70 power stations.
