Google removed more than 2000 loan apps from Play Store

New Delhi: The screws are being tightened on the lenders through the app. Tech giant Google (Google) has removed more than 2,000 loan apps from India’s Play Store since January this year.

A senior company official said that action has been taken against these apps for violation of conditions, misrepresentation of information, and suspicious offline behavior. The technology sector giant is also trying to tighten policies in this sector in the coming weeks.

Saikat Mitra, Google’s senior director and head of trust and security, Asia Pacific, said the company is committed to complying with regulations in all regions in which it operates. On the question of adequate effort to prevent online harm on digital platforms, he said that Google’s priority and its core value have always been around user safety.
