New Delhi: New rules have come into force for e-commerce companies in the country from 27 July. Modi government has also issued a notification for this. This law will also be applicable under the Consumer Protection Act 2019 (Consumer Protection Act, 2019). Now e-commerce companies have also come under its purview. E-commerce companies will also have to follow the new rule now. In this new law, consumers will now get more rights than before. According to the new Consumer Protection Act 2019, the way e-commerce companies sell and buy goods will change.

Now e-commerce companies will be tightened
According to the new rule, e-commerce companies will be tightened if fraud is done in online shopping with customers. The new e-commerce law has increased the convenience of customers and has also given many new rights. In this new rule, the selling company has to tell in which country the goods are made. Under the new consumer law, e-commerce companies will now have to take care of the interests of customers in every way. Whether those companies are registered in the country or abroad.

The new rule also provides for punishment along with penalty. If a customer cancels an order after booking it, then e-commerce companies cannot charge. Also, there will be a provision for penalty for delivery of inferior goods. All the information like refund, exchange, guarantee-warranty have to be made available on the portal of e-commerce companies. Along with this, we also have to tell which country the product is from and in which country it is made. Also, the price and the hidden charge, which is wrong or enticing, will also be curbed.

E-commerce companies will take care of these

  • Now e-commerce companies will have to pay all kinds of charges along with the price for goods and services.
  • Manufacturing date and expiry date of the product has to be written on its portal
  • Which country has to give information about the product.
  • E-commerce companies cannot make a profit improperly.
  • The mess in the price of services and discrimination with customers will not be allowed.
  • E-commerce companies have to guarantee payment methods and their security.
  • Product information such as address, contact number will also be mandatory for e-commerce companies.
  • Transparency and source have to be told about the rating of the product.
  • If the customer wants to complain about the product, then the complaint number of the customer will also have to be made available on the website.
