New Delhi: Financial services company Zerodha has started a campaign to make its employee’s health conscious. In a new initiative, Zerodha chief Nitin Kamath has set a new fitness challenge for the employees so that their employees find time for workouts, exercises, or sports activities. Under this, the company will give a bonus of 1 month and a motivation award of Rs 10 lakh to the employees who complete the challenge.

Under the fitness challenge, employees will be given the option to set daily activity targets on the company’s fitness tracker. The CEO said, “Whichever target has been set in 90% of the days of the next year, the person who fulfills it will get one month’s salary as a bonus.” Apart from this, there will also be a lucky draw of Rs 10 lakh as a motivation kicker.

Must burn 350 calories daily
Kamath said that the fitness challenge will be optional. In this challenge, a person will need to burn at least 350 active calories per day in any form. He said, “Most people in the company are currently working from home. The habit of sitting and smoking is also increasing. In such a situation, this step is being taken to keep the employees active. Hopefully, this will inculcate good habits in the employees and their families.”

Tracking can keep an eye on yourself
The co-founder of Zerodha said that tracking activity is the best way to lose weight and stay fit. He said that keeping an eye on one’s own weight also reveals about the diet. Kamath told that he started keeping an eye on his own activity in 2020. He has now increased his daily target to 1000 calories.

The company has already taken such steps
This is not the first time that Kamath of Zerodha has announced such a health initiative for the employees of his company. Last year too, Kamath announced a similar health challenge for the employees. Kamath had said that the company is launching a ’12-month health target’ program to encourage people to prioritize health amid the pandemic.
