DRDO's anti-Covid drug 2-DG-launched

New Delhi: A large amount of information has been revealed about the price of Covid-19 Medicine 2DG, developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO). The price per pouch of this medicine, which improves the oxygen of corona patients, has been fixed at Rs 990. These medicines will be made available to government hospitals, central and state governments at a discounted price.

Let us tell you that DRDO had launched Covid-19 antagonist drug 2-DG to improve the decreasing oxygen level in corona patients who were rapidly infected in the second wave of the corona. This drug was seen as a new weapon in this ongoing war with Corona. The first batch of anti-Covid-19 drugs formulated by DRDO was released a few days back. At the time of launching this drug, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan were also involved.

Significantly, the 2-DG drug developed by DRDO was approved by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) for emergency use on 8 May. DRDO’s Lab Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences has prepared 2-deoxy-D-glucose in collaboration with Hyderabad-based doctor Reddy Lab.

What is special about DRDO medicine?
Experts say that this drug is a kind of pseudo glucose molecule, which prevents the coronavirus from growing. This drug has become one of the few medicines in the world, which have been specially made to prevent Covid. This oral medication is allowed as a helpful method to use in the treatment of patients with moderate to severe symptoms of coronavirus. 2-DG medicine comes in a packet in the form of powder, it has to be dissolved in water and drink.
