New Delhi: The counting of votes for the Presidential election has ended. With this, NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu has become the 15th President of the country by winning the election. Murmu defeated joint opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha in the third phase itself. This will be the first time after Murmu’s victory that a woman tribal is going to climb the ladder of Raisen Hill.

Round 1: Murmu gets 540 votes
In the presidential election, the votes of MPs were counted in the first round. A total of 776 MPs’ votes were valid, including the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. However, 15 of these votes were rejected, while some MPs did not cast their votes. A total of 748 MPs’ votes were counted up to the value of 5,23,600. in these

2nd round: Draupadi Murmu got 809 votes
Giving information, Rajya Sabha Secretary General PC Modi said, “After the second round, where the ballots of the first 10 states were counted alphabetically – total valid votes 1138 and their total value 1,49,575. Out of this, Draupadi Murmu got 809 votes worth 1,05,299 and Yashwant Sinha got 329 votes worth 44,276.

He said, “If I include the earlier results of Parliament, the total value of 1,886 valid votes so far is 6,73,175, out of which Draupadi Murmu got 1,349 votes with a value of 4,83,299. Yashwant Sinha got 537 votes, which is worth 1,89,876 so far.

Phase 3: Counting of votes for 10 states
In the third phase, the votes of 10 states were counted. It consists of Karnataka, Kerala, MP, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, and Punjab. The total valid votes in this round are 1,333. The total value of valid votes is 1,65,664. Draupadi Murmu got 812 votes, and Yashwant Sinha got 521 votes.

Congratulating Murmu on his victory, BJP President JP Nadda said, “The proposal by the NDA to name Draupadi Murmu as its presidential candidate has been met with support across party lines… I am sure her tenure will be very long. will succeed.”

17 MPs and 100 MLAs cross voting
There was a lot of cross-voting in the presidential election held on 18 July. According to information received from sources, during the voting, 17 MPs and more than 104 MLAs of opposition parties voted for Draupadi Murmu instead of Yashwant Sinha.
