New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday sought a response from the Competition Commission of India (CCI) to Facebook (WhatsApp) and WhatsApp appeals in order to dismiss their petitions against ordering an inquiry into the new privacy policy of the messaging app. The order of the single bench has been challenged.
A bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jasmeet Singh issued notice to the CCI ordering the inquiry and sought its response till the next hearing on 21 May.
The single bench said in its order on 22 April that although it would be “prudent” for the CCI to wait for the outcome of the petitions filed in the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court against WhatsApp’s new privacy policy, the regulator’s order not to do so ” Shall not be “perverted” or “diminishing jurisdiction”.
