Cinema halls to be opened with 100% capacity across the country

Chennai: Theaters (cinema theaters) have been allowed to open with 100 percent capacity across the country. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has also released a new set of SOPs for theaters to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. According to the new SOP, from 1 February, cinemas with 100 percent capacity will be opened across the country.

Significantly, the cinema halls, theaters, and multiplexes were closed with the onset of the Corona epidemic in the country in March. Now, following the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), the seating capacity of theaters, cinemas, and multiplexes is allowed to be increased from the current 50 percent to 100 percent. Detailed information about SoP is said to be available by evening.

While giving information about this, Prakash Javadekar said, ‘There is good news for the cinema watcher across the country. From February, cinema halls can be opened with 100 per cent seat capacity. Our emphasis will be more on online booking, the difference between the two shows so that there is no rush. The corona era is now on the verge of ending. People will be able to go inside by taking the goods from the cinema hall’s food stall.

Some guidelines have been issued by the Ministry, which is mandatory to follow:

  1. It will be mandatory to maintain a distance of at least 6 feet in the auditorium, common areas.
  2. Masks of people entering theaters are mandatory.
  3. It is mandatory for people to keep sanitizer at common area, entry and exit points of Cinemahal.
  4. Spitting will be strictly prohibited.
  5. It will be mandatory for people coming to theaters to have the Arogya Setu App in mobile.
