New Delhi: The central government has changed the design and rear seating rules of two-wheelers to curb the increasing road accidents. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has implemented some new rules in view of your safety. According to the new rules, the people sitting behind the bike rider will have to follow some new rules (Bike Ride Rules). Let us know what the new rules say about this.
Handhold between bike rider and back seat
According to the new rules of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, now handhold is necessary on both sides of the rear seat of the bike. The handhold is for the safety of the rider sitting at the rear. The handhold proves to be very helpful for riding when the bike driver suddenly applies the brakes. Till now most of the bikes did not have this feature. Along with this, notches on both sides have been made mandatory for the person sitting behind the bike. Apart from this, at least half of the left side of the rear wheel of the bike will be covered securely so that the clothes of the rear occupant do not get entangled in the rear wheel.
The light container will now have to be installed in the motorcycle
The Center has also issued instructions to install a lighter container in the bike. The length of this container shall be 550 mm, width 510 mm, and height shall not exceed 500 mm. If the container is placed at the place of the rear ride, then only the driver will be allowed to sit on the bike. In other words, no other ride will be able to sit on the bike. If the other rider sits on the bike, then it will be considered a violation of the rule. At the same time, if the container is placed behind the seating area of the rear passenger, another person will be allowed to sit.
New guideline issued regarding bike tires
The government has also issued a new guideline regarding tires. Under this, a tire pressure monitoring system has been suggested for vehicles up to a maximum weight of 3.5 tonnes. Through the sensor in this system, the driver gets information about the air pressure in the tire of the vehicle. Also, a tire repair kit has been recommended. After its implementation, there will be no need for extra tires in the vehicle. The government keeps on changing the rules of road safety from time to time. In the last few years, emphasis has been laid on tightening the rules of road safety.
