CBI Court gives Jaya Jaitley 4 years in jail, HC sentenced to suspension in a few hours

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has suspended the 4-year sentence given to Jaya Jaitley, the former president of the Samata Party. The Delhi High Court has sought a response from the CBI on Jaya Jaitley’s petition in the case. Earlier on Thursday, a Delhi court sentenced Jaya Jaitley to four years in prison for corruption in the alleged defense deal.

Along with this, the court also sentenced Jaitley’s former party colleague Gopal Pacherwal, Major General (Retd) SP Murgai to four years imprisonment. A convict’s lawyer, Vikram Panwar, said that all three have been sentenced to 4 years in jail by a Delhi court in the 2000-01 corruption case.

Let us know that the CBI had on Wednesday demanded a maximum sentence of seven years in prison for Jaya Jaitley and two other convicts, former chairman of the Samata Party, for alleged corruption in the nearly 20-year-old defense deal. Jaitley, his former party colleague Gopal Pachrewal and Major General (Retd.) SP Murgai, who had been convicted of corruption and criminal conspiracy in the purchase of thermal imager, reserved their verdict till Thursday.
