New Delhi: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has shown an income of over Rs 3,623 crore in 2019-20 and has received Rs 2,555 crore from electoral bonds. According to the BJP’s audited annual accounts for 2019-20 made public by the Election Commission, the party’s receipts stood at Rs 3623,28,06,093. Its expenditure was Rs 1651,02,25,425.

On August 9, the Election Commission of India released BJP’s annual audit report for the year 2019-20. According to the ECI report, BJP earned Rs 2,555 crore from electoral bonds in 2019-20, a 76% surge over its Rs 1,450 crore income after 2018-19. At the time of the general election 2019-20, the total election expenditure of the party was Rs 1,352.92 crore, up from Rs 792.37 crore in 2018-19. Moreover, as per the data, BJP received three-fourths of electoral bonds sold in 2019-20, whereas Congress got just 9 percent of the total bonds worth Rs 3,435.

The BJP got Rs 2,555 crore (Rs 2555,00,01,000) from electoral bonds in 2019-20. Its total expenditure on the election and general campaign in the year 2019-20 was Rs 1,352.92 crore. Though the details were submitted to the Election Commission on July 22 this year, the document was made public by the Commission this week.
