New Delhi: The Central Government has decided to extend the tenure of Directors of Enforcement (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The government has extended the tenure of the CBI chief by five years.

Explain that the Government of India has enacted an ordinance to extend the tenure of directors of ED and CBI by 5 years. The tenure of the chief of ED and CBI is two years. At the same time, ED Chief Sanjay Kumar Mishra and present CBI Chief Subodh Jaiswal are there.

Three-year extension
As per the new ordinance, the appointment of CBI and ED directors will be done for the first two years. After which it will be extended by three years (1+1+1). At the same time, three extensions can be given for one year each, but it should not be more than 5 years in total.
