New Delhi: Abhinandan Varthaman, who was the hero of Balakot Air Strike, was honored with the Vir Chakra today. President Ram Nath Kovind honored Abhinandan Varthaman with the Vir Chakra. Let us inform you that on 27 February 2019, Abhinandan Varthaman shot down a Pakistani F-16 fighter plane. After this, he remained in the possession of the Pakistani army for three days. After pressure from India, Pakistan handed over Abhinandan Varthaman back to India after three days. To take on Pakistan, the Indian Air Force has promoted him and given him the rank of Group Captain. This post is equivalent to the rank of Colonel in the Indian Army.
