New Delhi: The exercise to resolve the ongoing border dispute (Ladakh Border Rift) between India and China is underway in Eastern Ladakh. According to a report, India and China have agreed on a three-step plan for disengagement from the disputed areas of Ladakh. Under this, the troops of both countries will return to their old status quo of April-May. Under this, the disputed ‘Finger’ area on the north shore of Lake Pangong could be temporarily converted into No Mans Land to reduce tensions between the two countries.

Sources said that under an important aspect of the proposed phased de-escalation, the area from Finger 4 to Finger 8 is being considered as a no-patrolling zone for some time. However, no official statement has been issued by the Government of India or the Indian Army on the matter so far. No statement has been received from China either.

The matter came up in the eighth round meeting on November 6
In fact, there was talk of the eighth round between the Indo-Chinese armies on November 6 in Chushul, Ladakh. In this, both the countries had agreed on a three step plan. According to the report, both the countries are ready to withdraw their troops as heavy snowfall is falling on the peaks in eastern Ladakh at the moment. At an altitude of about 15-16 thousand, the temperature goes down to minus 45 degrees. This may increase the trouble of the soldiers of both the countries.

There will be disengagement in these 3 steps

In the first step, Pangong Lake area will be vacated in the first week. Tanks and troops will be sent back. This process will continue for three days.

In the second step, both armies will remove 30 per cent of their troops from near Pangong area every day. During this time the Chinese army will return to Finger 8, while the Indian army will return to its Dhan Singh Thapa post.

Meanwhile, in the third step, the armies of India and China will withdraw their troops from the southern area of Pangong Lake area. At the same time, the hills of Chushul, Rejang La, which were captured during the tension, will also be evacuated. The whole process will be overseen by both armies, which has been agreed upon.

In which area is the dispute?
Finger 8 and 4 of Ladakh is in dispute with China. Chinese troops have come in here for eight kilometers. Bunkers have been built, while India considers it a complete violation of the status quo. Both sides patrol the area between Finger 4 and Finger 8, which often led to tensions and skirmishes between them. Explain that the 1400 feet high hills along the lake are known as the Finger Area.

Tensions continue since April
Tensions have been high in the Pengong Lake area of eastern Ladakh since April. The Chinese army had captured several Indian patrolling points during this time, but the Indian troops responded to China in a timely manner. On the other hand, on June 15, there was a violent clash with Chinese troops in Galwan valley, in which 20 Indian soldiers were martyred. It was also reported that 43 Chinese soldiers were killed. However, China put official figures at 5 of its soldiers killed.
