New Delhi: SpiceJet’s Dubai-Madurai flight was delayed on Monday due to a non-functioning front wheel of a Boeing B737 aircraft. This information was given by the officials of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Monday’s incident is the ninth incident of a technical snag in SpiceJet in the last 24 days, he said.

The DGCA had on July 6 issued show-cause notices on eight incidents of technical snag in the aircraft from June 19 till then. The aviation regulator had said that the low-cost carrier has “failed” to provide safe, efficient, and reliable air service. The DGCA official pointed out that the Mangaluru-Dubai flight was being operated on Monday in a Boeing B737 MAX aircraft with registration number VT-SZK.

He said that after the plane landed, the engineer inspected and found that the front wheels were pressed more than usual. Officials pointed out that the engineer then decided not to allow the plane to take off. He said that the airline has sent another flight from Mumbai to Dubai so that it can operate the Dubai-Madurai flight.

Speaking on the matter, a Spicejet spokesperson said, “On July 11, 2022, SpiceJet flight number SG23, which operates from Dubai to Madurai, was delayed due to a technical glitch at the last minute. An alternate flight was immediately dispatched to bring the passengers to India. “There can be delays in flights of any airline. There was no incident of a security breach in the aircraft.”
