8 beaches of India got ‘blue flag’ certification, know why it is special

New Delhi: Eight beaches in India have been awarded the prestigious international certification Blue Flag. The environment ministry gave this information on Sunday. Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar called it a proud moment for the country and said that this certification is a global recognition of India’s conservation and sustainable development efforts.

Blue flag certification is awarded by a Danish institution. For this, assessment is done on four major grounds, which include environmental education and information, bathwater quality, environmental management and conservation, protection, and service on the beaches.

The ministry said in a statement that eight beaches of five states and two union territories have been given international certification ‘blue flag’.
This certification is done by an international jury consisting of eminent members of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the Danish-based NGO Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Are included.
Among the beaches that have been awarded ‘blue-flag certification’, the statement said, Shivrajpur (Gujarat) in Gujarat, Ghoghla in Diu, Kasarcode and Padubadri in Karnataka, Kappad in Kerala, Rushikonda in Andhra Pradesh, Golden in Odisha And the Radhanagar beaches of Andaman and Nicobar.

Javadekar tweeted many, “Proud moment for India; All eight beaches recommended by the government received international ‘Blue Flag certification’.
On September 18, the government recommended these eight beaches for the prestigious International Eco-Label-Blue Flag certification.
