Akali Dal

New Delhi: The matter is really about agricultural bills, due to which the NDA is now shattered. Yes, the Shiromani Akali Dal has split from the NDA. Due to which the BJP’s 22-year-old ally ‘Akali Dal’ has now got rid of it. It started 9 days ago on 17 September when Harsimrat Kaur resigned as minister in the Modi government, opposing these bills in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

Be aware that Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal had announced his separation from the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Saturday night in protest against agricultural bills. Let us know that the most opposition to the agricultural bills has been in Punjab and Haryana. The farmers here are doing their fiery demonstration for the last 20 days. Farmers in all the districts of Punjab have now embarked on the road and rail roko movement. Not only this, these farmers are also getting the support of Congress, Akali Dal, AAP, Lok Insaaf Party and BSP.

What was the problem with the Akali Dal
Significantly, the Akali Dal was struggling in a similar fashion. In such a situation, the Agriculture Bill of the Modi government had become a thorn in his throat, because the party was clearly aware that if he had agreed to the Modi government for this, he would have to lose his hands to a big vote bank of Punjab i.e. the farmers there. Which would have proved terrible for him.

Be aware that the Akali Dal has a strong hold in the agricultural region of Punjab, Malwa. At the same time, it is also about the 2022 assembly elections for which the Akali Dal is getting ready. Where before 2017, the Akali Dal had formed its government twice in a row in the state. In the 2017 assembly elections, the Akali Dal was reduced to just 15 seats out of 117 seats. In such a situation, before the elections of 2022, the Akali Dal does not want to turn a large vote bank of farmers against itself, nor does it want to lose power of Punjab forever.

Which are the three ‘agricultural bills’ that are being opposed

  • Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation), Bill.
  • Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill.
  • Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill.

The Akali Dal was a special ally of the NDA since 1998

Let me tell you that in 1998, when LK Advani and Atal Bihari Vajpayee thought of forming the NDA, then the Samata Party of George Fernandes, the AIADMK of Jayalalithaa, the Akali Dal led by Prakash Singh Badal, and the Shiv Sena of Balasaheb Thackeray He first joined it. However, the Samata Party later changed its name to JDU. Where JDU has left the DMK NDA once and returned home. The Shiv Sena is now running its government in Maharashtra with the Congress. Among them, the Akali Dal was the only party that had never left the NDA till now.

Will the NDA make a difference due to the separation of the Akali Dal?
If we look at the political equation, we will find that the Akali Dal has two MPs in the Lok Sabha. At the same time, he has three MPs in the Rajya Sabha. On the other hand, political pundits say that it should not make any difference in the strength of NDA in both the houses. Actually, if we see, this is a step taken under a very thoughtful strategy. For one thing, it is well known that there is no special vote bank of BJP in Punjab. The possibility of loss from this is very less. On the other hand, where the Akali Dal was seeing its big loss due to these agricultural bills. In the last election, the party suffered a lot due to ‘AAP’. Where only the Akali Dal Party was reduced to three in terms of seats due to the electoral dent of ‘AAP’.

Whatever may be the case, it is certain that the Akali Dal has separated itself from the NDA only after conducting its political analysis. At the same time, BJP also does not see any special difference in the movement of the Akali Dal. At present, Bihar has an important electoral agenda, which it is pursuing with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ‘Good Governance Babu’. She will soon be laying her cards for Punjab too. At the moment, all the parties have started their own politics on the basis of politics.
