New Delhi: The new mutant of the coronavirus, Omicron, has once again increased the fear of this disease. After getting many patients of this variant in India after many countries of the world, monitoring is being done here too. WHO and all the health experts of the world are worried about this variant, but till now concrete things have not come out about it so that it can be known how dangerous this variant is. However, after all the studies done regarding the coronavirus, it is certain that the one whose immunity is strong or in whom a good amount of antibodies have been formed is not at much risk of this virus.

Dr. Vikas Bhatia, Director, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) BB Nagar Telangana says that the human body can keep many types of infections away from its natural or innate immunity. Apart from this, after coming in contact with the infection, immunity against it also develops in the body. There are also some viruses that have the ability to make a person seriously ill, crippled, or even death. However, vaccines or vaccines help in developing strong immunity in the body against such infections.

Hybrid immunity can be saved by Omicron
Dr. Bhatia says that for the last two years, SRCOVT has been the cause of the death of lakhs of people. India witnessed a severe and deadly second wave of Covid, due to which lakhs of people lost their lives across the country. After the second wave, India now has a large population in that category in which hybrid immunity or hybrid immunity has developed. Hybrid immunity refers to people who have received both doses of the Kovid vaccine and have also had an infection. Studies say that this type of immunity provides stronger protection against Covid infection. It has also been seen that a better level of immunity against the infection has also been seen in people who have had a covid infection and after that those who have also taken a dose of corona vaccine. The hybrid immunity present in our population can also protect against serious threats caused by viruses such as the new mutant Omicron.

Hybrid immunity in a large population in India
According to the recently released National Sero Survey, antibodies to Covid infection were found in 80 percent of India’s population, including children. Vaccination statistics show that more than 85 percent of the adult population has been given the first dose of the vaccine. More than 50 percent of the adult population of the country has received both doses of the Covid vaccine. In such a situation, it can be said that more than fifty percent of the population has received both doses of the vaccine. Therefore, hybrid immunity has come in a large number of people.

Omicron has spread to more than 40 countries
Dr. says that the Omicron variant was first identified in South Africa. Today it has spread to more than 40 countries. So far, more than 30 mutations have been observed in the variant and it is believed to be more infectious than the delta variants found in the past. Which had a serious impact in other countries including India in the second wave. Omicron has become a matter of serious concern around the world. Many countries are adopting various measures to prevent the spread of infection and strict restrictions have been imposed.

Vigilance and caution needed in India
Dr. says that India also needs to be alert. Preliminary evidence indicates that the virus is more contagious. Despite this, people are not getting seriously ill or dying due to its infection. The symptoms of infection that have been seen so far have been seen in the form of mild fever with a cold. Despite this, we do not have to let our safety standards go down. Many countries are adopting new methods to keep themselves safe from infection.

For example, no restaurant in Germany is being given entry without full vaccination. People all over the world are now understanding how important it is to follow covid-compliant behavior. People are now following the use of masks in their personal lives, social distance, not going to the crowd, washing hands regularly, using sanitizer, etc. This has to be continued in India as well. It is our responsibility to take both the doses of the corona vaccine and keep following the covid-compliant behavior regularly. So that the rapid growth of infection can be stopped.
