Guru Nanak founded Sikhism

Know the history of Guru Nanak Jayanti
Actually, the first Guru of Sikhism was Guru Nanak Dev. Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born on 1469 AD. Nanak Ji was born on Kartik Purnima in 1469 in a village named Talwandi situated on the banks of the Ravi river in the Punjab (Pakistan) region. However, now this birthplace of Guru Nanak Ji is now in Nankana Sahib present in Punjab province of Pakistan.
Let us tell you that now the name of this holy place is known as Guru Nanak Dev. Here people not only from the country but also from abroad come to visit the famous Gurdwara Nankana Sahib. It is said that this Gurudwara ‘Nankana Sahib’ was built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the king of the Sikh Empire.
