Mumbai: Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has apologized for his remarks made at an event in Andheri, Mumbai. The governor had said at an event, “If Gujaratis and Rajasthanis are removed from Maharashtra, especially Mumbai and Thane, there will be no money left here…”. All the parties of Maharashtra criticized his statement.
Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has issued a statement, writing, ‘Perhaps there was some mistake on my part in praising the contribution of some communities in the development of Mumbai in a public program last July 29. Not only Maharashtra, everyone has a special contribution to development in the whole of India. Especially today the country is moving towards progress only due to the generosity of the concerned state and the bright tradition of taking everyone along.
He also wrote ‘In the last almost three years, I have got immense love from the people of Maharashtra. I have tried my best to increase respect for the Maharashtra and Marathi language. But if I have accidentally made some mistake in the said speech, then it cannot be imagined to take this root as contempt for a great state like Maharashtra. In the tradition of the great saints of Maharashtra, by forgiving this humble state servant, I will show my great heart.
