New Delhi: The Government of India has tightened the noose on those spreading Fake News. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has blocked 16 YouTube news channels for spreading propaganda related to India’s national security, foreign relations, and public order. Their total viewership was more than 68 crores. The Government of India gave this information on Monday.
“The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has blocked 16 YouTube news channels, 10 Indian and 6 Pakistan-based YouTube news channels, for spreading propaganda related to India’s national security, foreign relations, and public order,” the government said.

Sarkar said, “YouTube channels were spreading false, unverified information to create panic, incite communal disharmony and disturb public order in India. The viewership of these YouTube channels was more than 68 crores.
Earlier this month, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting blocked 22 YouTube channels for the above reason. In, 4 YouTube news channels of Pakistan are included. Their total viewership was more than 260 crores. All of these were used to spread fake news and coordinated disinformation on social media on sensitive topics from the point of view of national security, India’s foreign relations, and public order.
