Pune: A sudden fire broke out at the Fashion Street Market in Pune’s Camp area of Maharashtra late on Friday night. The fire spread so fast in the market that almost all the shops present were burnt down. The fire brigade reached the spot after getting information about the incident. The fire has been controlled. There is no news of the loss of life or property in the fire, but all 448 shops on Fashion Street were burnt to ashes.
Chief Fire Tender Officer Prashant Ranpase informed that, around 9:30 am, a call was received about the fire incident in Fashion Street. 16 fire engines and 50 firefighter personnel and 10 officers were present at the scene of the incident. The fire could barely be controlled around 1:10 pm. The flames were so high that it could be seen from any corner of the city. The fire spread so fast that there was no opportunity to do anything. The fire in the market was very frightening, which caused the market’s goods to be completely burnt in the fire.
A shopkeeper told that, in terms of weekend sales, shopkeepers keep more of the goods in their shops on Friday. Up to three lakh goods arrive at the end of the week, it can be guessed how much damage must have been done. It may be noted that this is the second incident of fire in the camp area in the last 15 days. Earlier, a fire incident had also surfaced in Shivaji Market in which 25 shops were burnt to ashes.
