Thanjavur: According to the big news of the morning, a major accident took place during the Rath Yatra of a temple in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu. According to the incident, around 11 people have died on the spot today i.e. early Wednesday morning when the chariot came in the grip of an electric wire. These include 2 children. The injured have been admitted to the hospital. Police are currently investigating the matter.

As per the detailed report, the 94th Upper Gurupuja festival is being celebrated at the temple in Kalimedu, Thanjavur. At the same time, crowds of people had started gathering since late Tuesday night to attend it. The said Rath Yatra was passing through a turning point, during which many people standing on the chariot have come under the grip of a high voltage wire simultaneously.

In fact, after the Rath Yatra left the temple, when it was time to turn, the chariot could not be taken there due to the net of wires laid above. At the same time, as soon as the chariot was reversed, it came into contact with a high-tension line passing from above, and immediately the current spread throughout the chariot. Some children have also been reported to have lost their lives in the incident.

In this regard, Tiruchirappalli Central Zone Inspector General of Police V Balakrishnan said that in Thanjavur district, so far 11 people have died and 15 others were injured when a temple car (of chariot festival) came in contact with a live wire. Police is currently investigating the matter by registering an FIR.
