    It is known that this day was celebrated for the first time in the year 1922 by the Spanish writer Vicente Clave Andres for the purpose of remembering and honoring Miguel Cervantes. After which it was a natural choice for the UNESCO General Conference held in Paris on 23 April 1995. So that through this day people can be made aware of other things including book reading.
